Born in Hot Springs AR, Don graduated from Hot Springs Lakeside. He attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway AR and graduated with a BBA in Finance. His industry experience began while attending UCA working for a small residential contractor/lighting showroom business. After graduation, he joined Graybar Electric as a management trainee. While at Graybar he worked as Project Quotations Manager and Industrial Outside Sales. An opportunity to join a Commercial/Industrial contracting firm was next and he held the position of Project Manager/Estimator. A desire to get back into sales led to an opportunity with a lighting manufacturers’ representative firm Engleby-Clarke-Gillette which was the company that he eventually gained ownership and became President. EGH merged with Thornton Sales and Don and Charlie Thornton joined forces changing the name to Lighting & Power Solutions better representing our hybrid Lighting and Commercial/Industrial business model. LPS sales have grown 10X and the staff has grown from 8 to 43 since the merger which is a testament to the partnership and model.
A native of North Little Rock, Charlie graduated from North Little Rock Northeast High School and attended the University of Arkansas at both Fayetteville and Little Rock. He began his business career at Heritage Building Systems covering the states of Missouri, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Charlie joined his father’s business, Thornton Sales Agency, in 1984 and represented the Lighting Corporation of America’s family of brands until it was sold to Hubbell Lighting in the early 2000’s. Charlie joined forces with Phil Gillette and Don Henderson at Engleby Gillette Henderson in 2002 and with Phil’s retirement in 2003, Don became President and Charlie was named Vice President. The company’s name was also changed at that time to Lighting and Power Solutions to better reflect the company’s core competencies. This partnership also ushered in a time of growth that has seen the company grow to over forty team members serving all or parts of six states.
Born in Little Rock, AR, Shannon graduated from John L McClellan Business Magnet High School. She attended the University of Little Rock in Little Rock, AR. She began her career in 1995 when she was given an opportunity to learn the industry at ECG, Inc. It was there that she found her passion for the ever-changing electrical industry and helping bring projects to completion. AS ECG grew and changed names to what is now LPS, Inc., it allowed her to gain experience in customer service, quotes, outside sales and project management. Shannon was then named Director of Operations and manages a team of over 40 associates.
